? How To Make Instant Pot Long Grain White Rice

This long-grain rice recipe is completely beginner-friendly and practically effortless! Take out some measuring cups, a fine mesh sieve, and your Instant Pot or pressure cooker to get started.

1 cup of long-grain white rice will make about 4 servings. You can easily double or triple the recipe if you want a tasty side to meal prep for the week!

    2. Cook. Seal the Instant pot and turn the venting knob to sealed. Set the timer to 3 minutes on high pressure with the manual setting. Allow the cooking time to pass then do a 10-minute natural pressure release (NPR).

Long-grain white rice is an excellent and versatile side dish to serve with so many dishes! It would be delicious in my red beans and rice recipe or with my sweet and sour chicken! Enjoy!

    ? Angela's Tips & Recipe Notes

    • To rinse your rice, pour the 1 cup of rice into a fine sieve mesh and rinse under cold water. Use your hands or a wooden spoon to stir the rice and rinse until the water runs clear.
    • For added flavor, you can swap out the water for the same amount of vegetable, chicken, beef, or seafood broth or stock. I recommend matching the protein you are going to be serving for the best results.
    • This recipe calls for a high-pressure setting since long-grain rice is being used. Do not use your rice setting (or low pressure) on your pressure cooker or Instant Pot.
    • Other types of white rice will work for this recipe too. If you prefer Jasmine or Basmati, feel free to follow the same cooking instructions.

    ? Storing & Reheating

Place your cooled rice in an airtight container or resealable Ziplock bag in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. To freeze, store the completely cooled rice in a heavy-duty freezer bag and label the date. Make sure to get all of the air out before closing the bag. The rice will last up to 6 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.

Reheating Instant Pot Long Grain White Rice

Transfer your rice to a pot with some water, cover it, then cook on medium heat on the stove until warmed through. You'll need to stir the rice as you're cooking so that it doesn't clump together.

Alternatively, you can reheat your leftover rice in the microwave. Place it in a microwave-safe bowl with a splash of water on medium heat in 30-second intervals. Stir between each heating cycle until it is warmed to your liking.

    ? FAQ

How Can I Prevent The Long Grain Rice From Becoming Sticky In The Instant Pot?

To prevent your rice from becoming sticky all you need to do is to make sure that you rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking it in the Instant Pot. This will help remove excess starches which result in more separated rice.

Can I Use The Rice Button On My Instant Pot For This Long Grain White Rice Recipe?

Technically you can if you'd like, but I wouldn't suggest it. Standard white rice would be fine to cook in the rice setting, but this recipe calls for long-grain rice. A high-pressure setting is better to use in this case. The 3 minutes in the high-pressure setting will cook perfectly tender rice!

Can I Freeze My Leftover Long Grain White Rice?

Yes! The key is to let the rice cool completely after cooking so that it doesn't form large clumps when freezing. Freezing rice is a game changer if you regularly meal prep. Place your rice in a heavy-duty storage bag and write the date on the bag. Enjoy within 6 months!
